When we were still in school, we learned that society's basic unit is the family. A nuclear family consist of the father, mother, and the children. While an extended family would include the grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. The filipino family is known for their extreme closeness, unlike in the west where the children move out upon reaching a certain age, we filipinos prefer that our kids live with us.I can not even imagine how lonely it must be if only I and my wife will be left alone in our home, while all my kids lived elsewhere. The house would be so quiet. The laughters and the banterings would be sorely missed! If i have my way, i would like to have all of us living inside a compound, where I and my wife will be able to enjoy our kids', their future spouses', and our future grandkids' company! Enjoying daily dinners together, family outings, celebrating milestones and birthdays, and most important of all being there for each other at all times whatever the occassion maybe.Family. We all need one.
